What is in store for the future of the HHH Metrodome?

aerial view of the HHH Metrodome and the Minneapolis skyline
No one can really say for sure, though many Minnesota Baseball and Football fans are hopeful that the Twin Cities sports mecca will remain untouched. The HHH Metrodome holds more memories for some Twin Cities natives than their grade schools do, the HHH Metrodome housed championship Minnesota Twins teams and Minnesota Vikings teams. Minnesota sporting greats, like Kerby Puckett called the HHH Metrodome home, and many sports fans are just not quite ready to let that go.

However, certain realities about the HHH Metrodome need to be faced, without the revenue of both the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings, changes will have to be made. It is not the most ideal football stadium and if the Vikings are going to continue to call the HHH Metrodome home, changes will have to be made.

My guess is BEST case scenario the HHH Metrodome will undergo MAJOR MAJOR changes in the upcoming Minnesota Vikings Seasons and the Vikings will continue to play home games at the Dome. More likely in my opinion is that the Dome will be torn down and the Vikings will play at TCF Bank Stadium for a few seasons while a new Vikings Stadium is built where the Dome was.

For now it is all speculation, but feel free to throw your 2 cents in too... I'd love to hear what other Dome Lovers are thinking!

Remember when the Super Bowl was at the HHH Metrodome?

Ok, so actually I did not remember off the top of my head either when Minneapolis and the HHH Metrodome hosted the Super Bowl but I did some Dome Research and the memories started flooding back....

Super Bowl XXVI or the 1992 Super Bowl for those of you who don't speak roman numerals and football history was hosted at the HHH Metrodome. The Washington Redskins of the NFC took on the Bufallo Bills of the AFC, beating them 37-24. Despite being two of the highest scoring teams in the league, the game was sloppy and both teams went scoreless for a good part of the first half. The Halftime show was titled "Winter Magic" and highlighted the Winter Olympics from the year. Gloria Estefan performed with Brian Boitano and Dorothy Hamill.

HHH Metrodome hosts Minnesota Twins again

An aerial view of TwinsFest inside the HHH Metrodome The HHH Metrodome was "home" of the twins again this past weekend, but just for TwinsFest, the annual kick off to the Minnesota Twins Baseball Season. Although the Minnesota Twins will be living at the new Target Field this spring, they came back to the HHH Metrodome to enjoy TwinsFest indoors.

"With Target Field outdoors, TwinsFest would suck anywhere else." One Twins fans reported. The 1,000s of Minnesota Twins fans who came out to see the Minnesota Twins Roster and get all of the scoop on Target Field and the 2010 Twins Season seemed to be thinking the same thing.

Perhaps the Twins-Metrodome Relationship won't be over for good, TwinsFest may live on at the HHH Metrodome forever.
