Metrodome Activities: Dog Day at the Dome

Now that TwinsFest is over, many Twin Cities residents may think that the Metrodome Minneapolis just sits empty, but in fact the Metrodome Schedule includes various other activities that don’t center around professional sports.

Want to do something fun with your dog? The Metrodome is hosting “Dog Day at the Dome” on Tuesday, February 3rd from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Bring your licensed (of course) dog to the Metrodome and enjoy an Off Leash Activity Area and Small Dog Section. It only costs $1 and there is free parking in the Metrodome Parking Lot. What a fun way to meet other dog owners!

Metrodome Sell Out

The Minnesota Vikings managed a Metrodome sell out just in time to avoid a TV blackout. It was the leading news story last week on many local channels. It led me to ask, Why is it so hard to sell out the Metrodome? For starters 62,000 seats is a lot of seats to sell in one week especially in a tight economy. People were nervous about the weather and travel arrangements being difficult. Add in a love/hate relationship with the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff and a weak quarterback leading the team of purple and it’s the perfect storm for NOT selling out the Metrodome.

Sure the Vikings lost the playoff game and many fans were bitter, but it was still a solid Vikings season and the Vikings only lost two regular season games at the Metrodome and both were close games. The purple home team of the Metrodome is a team asset, it’s almost like having an extra player advantage. I hope to see more purple pride in 2009 and less drama surrounding Metrodome sell-outs.
